As the summer heat continues across the UAE, many residents expect dry, sweltering days. However, this past Sunday brought unexpected relief and disruption with heavy to moderate rain showers recorded across multiple emirates.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), rainfall affected several areas in Al Ain, including Mezyad, Malaqit, Al Hiyar, Sa, Khatm Al Shiklah, Nahil, Al Faqa, Sweihan, Shwaib, Masakin, and Um Ghaffa.
Sharjah also saw rain in Madam, Al Bhaes, Al Ruwaidah, Khedera, and Rafada, while the Storm Centre shared visuals of heavy showers along the Dubai-Al Ain Road and Al Ain’s Um Ghafa Road. Wadi Al Helo also experienced rainfall, enhancing the natural beauty of its mountainous terrain.
Impact on Rentals and Outdoor Installations
At
RentAnythings, we advise clients and partners to take extra precautions for
outdoor advertising,
event rentals, and temporary installations. Strong winds reported at speeds of up to 45 km/h accompanied the rain and may impact:
These showers resulted from convective cloud activity, expected to continue through the evening, with NCM forecasting rain between 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM on Sunday. The Met Office issued yellow and orange alerts, urging the public to stay alert for potential weather hazards, especially when outdoors.
Safety First: Official Warnings Issued
The Abu Dhabi Police have urged drivers to remain cautious and follow the variable speed limits displayed on digital signs due to slick roads and poor visibility. Earlier this morning (Monday), red and yellow fog alerts were issued for parts of Abu Dhabi.
With summer temperatures still soaring, expected to hit 49ºC in Gasyoura and Mezaira, 44ºC in Abu Dhabi, and 43ºC in Dubai, these rainy spells offer brief relief but also require smart planning for any outdoor activities or installations.
Recent Weather Pattern: Not a One-Off
This isn’t the first rain event this month.
- On July 15, residents experienced light rain in select areas.
- On July 16, heavier showers and hail hit parts of Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman.
- Just two days ago, Dubai witnessed its first hailstorm of the summer, along with thunderstorms in select zones.
Rental Planning Tip
If you're planning an outdoor event, activation, or advertisement, always check local weather alerts. For critical campaigns and high-visibility rentals, consider rescheduling or reinforcing setups during adverse weather conditions.
